September 15, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm MDT
Join the regular monthly meeting of the Santa Fe Stargazers.
- Monthly Sky Report: Robert Powers
- Feature Presentation: “The Exciting World of Exoplanets”, by Mark Giovanazzi.
- Abstract: For millennia, people have wondered about the possibility of life beyond Earth. Today, we are capable of searching for signs of life by detecting and exploring exoplanets (planets outside of our solar system), which are one of the fastest-growing fields in astrophysics.Tune in to this virtual public science talk where University of Pennsylvania Astrophysics PhD student Mark Giovinazzi will provide an overview of exoplanets, how we detect them, as well as a discussion of the latest and greatest discoveries in the field. This event will be interactive and is perfect for all general audiences interested in astronomy, exoplanets, and the potential for life elsewhere in the Universe. Come with curiosity, an open-mind, and bring any questions you may have!
- Member Reports: All.
- Business meeting (outreach, observing, programming, dark sky advocacy report).
